Technical Question: Using Photographs From Other Sites
Okay, here's a question for all you other bloggers out there. I have been using pictures from other sites and had selected for them to link back to their original websites, but it seems that this isn't working. Is it appropriate to be using photographs from other websites? What is the best way to attribute them to that website (and how important is this)?

If you're pulling photos from someone's flickr account or photobucket account -- that is, if they are personal photos by individuals -- then you need to cite that in some way. Most professional sites use stock images that they acquire from companies that produce stock images. So basically, if you're taking an individual's photographic art or snapshot, do find a way to cite the source.
That's my two cents.
Speaking as a photographer working to be a serious professional, nothing infuriates me more than someone "borrowing" something from my site and not acknowledging the work that I have done. While, your blog is not a printed/published document, I think it would be a nice gesture to give credit where credit is due. After all, if we could make images of the things that attracted us to the photo, would we not have already made them ourselves? Of course none of that applies for stock images, photogs loose all identity when they sell something for stock. I've just added my 2 cents to the above 2 cents, wow, .04 whole cents!!!
These comments are good. I'll find a way to cite these sources, unless they're like just clip art. But definitely if they're art work or something. Thanks!
Okay, so here's what I'll do - if I use a picture that is noteworthy, I'll provide a link back to the original site. You can find the link as the little three dots before the title of the post.
